I agree. I was hoping we would be able to get into a train car like the ones in the movies. There will be "steam" coming out, and a whistle every now and then. I'm looking forward to all the photo op's, I could spend all day just taking pictures of my family in and around Hogsmead and Hogwarts and Hagrids and DC queue and everywhere else.

How do you sneak a train engine in?

I'm pretty sure it was done very early in the morning when everyone is sleeping.

Under Harry's invisibility cloak, of course!

Yeah but I was thinking in hogsmeade period.I know its a replica but im guessing its just as heavy as the real thing. To me it just seems like one of those things where you build around the train.

That would be a sight going down the road on the back of a truck.

  7. Darn, I was soooo hoping to post this as I saw the hogwarts express engine with my own eyes today around noon. I peeked through the wall from various cracks and the wheels and everything is in place.

I also noted that they are spending a considerable amount of time installing scaffolding in the water surrounding the old stonework of the Oak patio. They are pounding rebar "walls" into the old rockwork to retheme the stonework into something more applicable to HP. When I saw it the scaffolding is now over the area the roots from Oak were.

The "box" has enough detail today to see that there will be some kind of roof installed over some if not all of the ramps. A roof shape is forming from the stonework.

Final note... the workers really love this job as when they are not working, they are looking back at the visitors to the park; leaning on walls and scaffolding staring back at you. It is their day in the sun (no pun intended) I guess.

Sorry no pictures, but it is my birthday and I just wanted to have fun looking at all with my own eyes.

    Happy Birthday!

That makes me so jealous. I go to Universal every few years but I always like to go at the end of May. A birthday+a day at Universal+seeing brand new Potter construction would make for a fantastic birthday!

Also, back to the construction, is the engine somewhat dirty/dusty/unshined or is that only because of a bad camera shot.

They're cleaning up, painting other stuff like Hogsmead Station, and the general refurbishment on the entire park, so I'm sure the Hogwarts Express will be as shiny and new as it was on its first trip to Hogwarts. Wow, that's exciting!

I hope your right. That does look more like Ollivander's than some of the other buildings. But, in the video the Owl Post and Honeydukes have the half-circle windows, and Ollivander's has a big square window. I hope that is Ollivander's though. Would that explain why it's the last one being done?

By the way, Dualing Dragons' paint looked awefull, last time I went on it. From what I feel, they really are just skipping that periodic paintjob to paint it the new colors at the designated moment. Check it out the next time you ride, it really needs some paint at some locations.

In the last picture there is a hole cut out of the rockwork.
