Now that the event is over, which house was your favorite? Did your most anticipated house live up to your hopes?
Zombie Mortuary was the top house this year.
Then:
Nevermore
Vampire Casino
Nightshade
Death Row
Reconstruction
Time for the oldest houses to change they are done. If they bring back Nightshade they need to kill the son and have the father return as a spirit...

I almost put Deconstruction on the bottom, but in 2 runs through it I had one ok run, where I only got 1 trip through DRV and it was meh. Both have definitely outlived their shelf life, and I wouldn't mind even seeing Nightshade get replaced. Assuming they keep it at 6 houses plus Alone, I'm hoping for at least 2 new houses next year.
I HATED that house in 2009. HATED it! If you stumble across my review from that year you'll see it's dead last. This year though, I'm not sure why but it was better. I even got a scare in it.
Speaking of which, despite me viewing HOS as an every other year event, I definitely got more scares this year than I did in 2009. Not sure why. I think the hordes helped A LOT.
Ironically enough, Reconstruction went from terrible in 2009 to great this year, while DRV went from great in 2009 to terrible this year, in my opinion. As you said, I'm not sure why, but that's how it played out for me.
And I greatly agree with your statement on the hordes. I've attended both HOS 2008 and 2009 and I can't say that I've ever gotten a scare from any scarezone they've ever held, other than the living bushes which aren't really part of a scarezone. However, the hordes may have been my favorite aspect of this year's event. I would love to see them return next year.
I think my biggest issue this year was the New House Simply Blew the older Houses away. I loved DRV the first 2 years but this year it just seemed Blah. The new Houses certainly where Huge steps for HOS similar to what DRV was like when it opened. I don't understand the people who said the Hordes didn't work. I thought the Hordes truly made the event seem like the zombies had taken over the park. I will; say the lack of props and decorations did take away from the Halloween feel. I hope that Busch continues in this direction next year. I think that this is what they need to do in order to separate from all of the people comparing it to HHN.
Seems like when Busch used Vampire and Zombies they really get it right, Hopefully Scott, Alex and Robbi can pull another Rabbit out of the hat next year.
