Cinderella Castle Front Side Refurbishment

Apparently the Castle will be getting refurbished soon.

Cinderella Castle will be having a refurbishment in early 2010 on the front section (similar to the recent refurbishment of the back). The moat will be drained, and around Janurary 12 2010 a construction wall scrim will go up. At the same time as the refurbishment, the Dream Lights will be removed. It is expected that the refurb will be complete in late March 2010.

Nope. It is said it will not.

And as for eyesores. It is kind of a damper to not be able to see the actual castle but Disney really does a good job at making the effort to put themed scrim over the scaffolding so it seems sort of like another layer of the castle.


All in all the bigger picture is we should be glad this is being done. It shows care for the parks. Which is something that MK often lacks the most as far as upkeep goes. This will be sort of the 'prefurb' for Fantasyland Expansion

Once they drained the moat they are going to find the hundreds of turkey leg bones people throw to the MK lakes everyday. That is what they've found when they drained the Tom Sawyer Island lake (I don't know what is the name of it)

I've never seen a Disney Castle refurb be done before...are there going to be significant changes to the castle turrets or anything?

Disney is trying their best to be on game with Potter coming. They have been going back to the little details and showmanship that has been slacking in years. One of those big ones being showmanship. This is part of improving the upkeep of the castle before the new fantasy land work really gets going.

Besides what Splatter said, they'll also be taking down the Dream Lights.

The side entranceway to Fantasyland has been blocked due to the crane's position.


As a result of the moat being drained, the boats near Jungle Cruise have been walled off.
