    Stricter Fastpass Regulation

It's happening. Beginning in March guests will no longer be allowed to come back hours after their return window. Instead, you will be able to go 5 minutes early, or 15 minutes after your window. Great, great move.

I'm all for this. About time. Just feel bad for the CMs who will be screamed at my the guests who feel they create the rules, not Disney.

FML. I totally never paid attention to the FastPass window. I thought Disney realized that punishing their guests for most likely taking too long in their restaurants or their stores or their resorts (spending money) was a bad idea already? Plus, didn't we come to the conclusion that the system ends up balancing itself out with the late returns anyway?

Wow, big news. Expect some very unhappy guests. Disney better advertise the more strict return times.

    Not a fan of this.

Fast Pass alone ends up messing up the lines of attractions and increases wait times. It's a lot easier to just not have fastpass on attractions in general (hence them not being on Potter) and people returning late definitely make the wait times longer.

This will be a very painful transition, IMO. I expect lots of screaming families and trips to Guest Services. Where they will most likely get more Fastpasses. The cycle will continue. Nature always finds a way.

That's mathematically incorrect. Enforcing the Fastpass window will have a very little affect on the standby times. Remember, Fastpass is, simply put, keeping your virtual spot in line.

This is an erroneous presumption - that late FP use affects the standby line - it doesn't.

Each attraction only distributes so many FP in a day.
Each attraction can only seat so many people in a day.
The difference between Seats and FP distributed are SB riders.
The same number of SB riders will ride in a day whether FP are accepted late or not.
The same number of FP riders will ride each day - whether they are accepted late or not.

I can't really see an upside to this new Fastpass enforcement.

It should keep the Fastpass line shorter. Or at least more consistent.

Fastpass in general increases lines, that's a different subject for a different time.

You yourself said they only release a certain amount of Fastpasses for each window, they do this so Fastpass will not have too much of an effect on standby. When you're late you encroach on other Fastpass windows. If they're is an abundance of people late for their window it's definitely going to increase the wait time. Especially since the people in Fastpass lines are "entitled" to a shorter waiting period and are "priority". The CM's almost feel a need to try and get the Fastpass holders onto the attraction first. This is definitely having an effect on wait time slots.

Victoria's right. If you didn't use your FastPass during the original window, the standby line technically moved faster. So in the end, it all balances out. The only thing this will do is force people into those time windows. Waits will be just as long or short.

    Not entirely true...

If you don't use the FastPass in the original window, then yes, the Stand-by is techinically unaffected.

However, if they end up showing up late by an hour, you'll have the late FPer's and on-time FPer's getting priority over the Stand-by people.
