Unmasking the Horror and RIP Tour

Last night, I emailed Universal Orlando and asked them if they had any information on Unmasking the Horror this year. They just now responded and it is indeed returning. Here's the email:

The Unmasking the Horror tour will be returning this year. We will keep your email on file so that once the information becomes available, we can send you a request form. We are hoping to begin selling them in the next couple of weeks.
Glad to hear it is returning once again!

I've always wanted to do this and be able to walk around inside a HH and see it with lights on and all the details. How much is it usually?

This is what was posted on the website last year for UnMasking the Horror. Sure it will be quite similar this year.

    UNMASKING THE HORROR TOURS©

Get an inside look at this year's Halloween Horror Nights® as a Universal
Orlando® R.I.P. Guide takes you behind the screams, showing you the inner
workings of several of this year's main attractions. Along the way, we will
share the ghoulish secrets and haunted history of Halloween Horror Nights® and
how it has become one of the most anticipated Halloween events in the world.

Unmasking the Horror Tour ($40.00 per person, tax included):

    * Two hours in length. (departs at 10am and 1:30pm daily from Sept. 25th
through Oct. 31st on Halloween Horror Nights® event dates only)

    * Overview of this year's Halloween Horror Nights®

    * Overview of the history of Halloween Horror Nights®

    * "Lights on" behind the scenes tour of select haunted houses with
    opportunities to take pictures/video throughout

    * Free 2009 Halloween Horror Nights® commemorative lanyard (limited to
    one per tour ticket)

To book your Unmasking the Horror Tour©, check on tour availability or have any
questions, please contact VIP Services at 407-363-8295 or email us at
    viptours@universalorlando.com.

Tours are subject to availability and advanced reservations are required.

Unmasking the Horror Tours© are currently not available on October 2 & 10.

Tour price does not include park or event admission, admission is not required
to take part in the Unmasking the Horror Tour, guests without daytime park
admission will be escorted to the park exit at the conclusion of the tour.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult while on tour.

All Unmasking the Horror© tours are held during the day.
And a really cool tour they had in 2007 that I wish they would bring back in it's own right.

Secrets of the Sideshow Tour ($54.99+tax per person) (available on select days only):
     Three hours in length. (departs at 1pm on Oct. 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st only)
 Overview of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights®.
 A more in-depth “lights on” tour of three haunted houses with opportunities to take pictures/video in select rooms.
 Stops along the way at one of the Scarezones and the Main Stage.
 A museum exhibit designed exclusively for the tour by our Art and Design Department
     A Q & A session with one of our Halloween Horror Night® creators.

It's early in the day, not afterwards.

I miss that Sideshow tour...it was da bomb. The tours are only good if you do them early in the season. Otherwise the sets get destroyed a little more every day so it's not nearly as cool.

We did this tour last year, and I was disappointed actually. But honestly, I think my experience was mostly due to: 1) a not-so-good tour guide (I learned more "easter eggs" from others who had attended with a different guide than I did from my actual tour); 2) a really annoying guest in our group who monopolized the entire tour with his own stupid stories, thoughts, opinions, and pointless questions. By the end, we had paid $80 (for the two of us) to listen to this guy talk the entire time. It was kind of neat to see Wolfman and Frankenstein with the lights on, but not worth the money really.

But like I said, it sounded to me like it was really cool with the right tour guide. But since you have no way of predicting that, I don't think I'll be dropping the money for this again......

We actually do have it somewhere in our HHN 19 threads. Let me look for it.

EDIT: The walkthru pics were deleted by the poster, however we do have the "Surprise" that the Tour offered which was the model of the theatre.

Ah, that's what it was. Thanks! I'd really like to be able to give this tour a try this year but it seems unlikely right now.
