I'm not really into Star Wars, but the brown cloak thingy with the Mickey ears is really cute that they sell in the Star Tours shop.

I'll probably go maybe one weekend... my friend got cast as Luke Skywalker so I'll probably go just to get pics with him.

Ha.. those 2 are awesome. Donald, especially. $195 though? Jeez.

This is another event I'd like to attend once. I'm not a big Star Wars fan or anything... but some of the stuff looks pretty cool.

I enjoy the star wars weekends event, but it has gotten too big and crowded for the little Hollywood Studios area. It's not fun when you have to wait so long to see Chewie and friends.

I would agree with you. the lines for the characters are atrocious. there are even half hour lines for some of the lesser characters.

I love the big figs, the SW weekends are great, I was able to be a part of the parade with the 501st last year. (I have stormtrooper armor) It is way too crowded though, also just a tip the big figs from last year are on sale for $150 - 25% off at most of the stores at DW now.

For anyone who likes the limited edition pins at Star Wars Weekend I found this little bit about them on the what's hapPINing blog.

March 20, 2009
Fresh off the press! An early sneak peek at new pins being developed for Star Wars™ Weekends 2009. These spinner pins will feature characters on one side and a symbol representing those characters on the other side. They are amazing to see in person - big pins! And these are just a handful of pins being created for this event. Star Wars™ Weekends 2009 will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 22-June 14, 2009 at Disney's Hollywood Studios™.

That is a great lineup. I am really hoping to go the 30th. Did they say who the host was this year?
Answered my own question: Jay Laga'aia (Captain Typho) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka) will host Clone Wars: Behind the Force

Some of this stuff looks great. I like the poster this year being a clone Wars fan. The pins are great especially the General Grievous pin. Does anyone know how long the pins last. I am most likely going the first day of weekend three, will it still be there? Other than that I am really excited. May the force be with you!

Hoopla is looking good so far for this year's event!! We'll have to see if it can top Vader doing the Thriller though. Thriller really set a high bar.

Aw that sucks. Strep throat is the worst... especially when your tonsils grow the size of golf balls and you can't even swallow water without excruciating pain.

Yeah we haven't done SeaWorld with you yet!

I know! They told me to eat before taking the antibiotics and I'm all... "I can't even drink without my eyes watering." Oh well. I blame beer pong. But yes, Sea World!!! I think the sea lions are so cool! and I've never actually met their characters before.

SWW Changes: Luke is being replaced by Asoka Tan for the Jedi Mind Challenge shows; Hoopla is having more dance ever-popular numbers and is canning the Hoopla-Hustle.

The Hoopla-hustle was getting old but I hope they keep Snig and Oopla. They're a fun pair. I agree with everyone on the new merchandise! This blows last years out of the water! Last year got pretty sloppy in terms of merchandise. Also I hope the meet and greet locations are better organized. Last year Asoka's queue was adjacent to the Fetts'.

In '06 and '07 they had it well worked out. Dark Side on one side of the park, Good side on the other.

Scarletwebslingr
05-06-2009, 10:58 PM
Yea last year though it was so dispersed. Luke/Leia/R2 and Chewy were all by Startours while Anakin, Mace, and co. were clear out by Primetime Diner. All the bounty hunters and Asoka Tan were where OTS used to be behind Muppets while Vader and troopers were way out by Backlot. Darth Maul was by the Singing inthe Rain umbrella near the Power Rangers and the Star Wars Minny/Goofy/and Donald was closer to Idol. Everything was confusing and disorganized. The merchandises was nothing to write home about. Hoopla was really the savior of SWW '08. For me anyway.

That sounds like a disaster. The merchandise this year is good but a little bit to clone wars for my age. I do really like the General Grievous pin, but being that it is limited edition of 500 I really have no chance of getting it being that I am going week 3. Do you know of any way I could order it?

Yea, you can't order them to my knowledge or they would all be gone before the park even opened. Best chance is just to give money to someone you know will be there opening day when the park opens. Hey... I'm sure Linda Skywalker will be there bright and early!

In case nobody has seen Hyper Space Hoopla before, it is the glorious finale show at the end of every night of Star Wars Weekends showcasing most of the Star Wars characters. It'll crack you up more it cracks up Star Wars' integrity.

There is very popular segment called Dance Off with the Star Wars Stars. In 2007 was 70's themed for the original film's 30th anniversary, in 2008 it was 80's themed in honor of the 25th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, and Finally this year is 90's themed to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phantom Menace!

I definitely want to check it out this year though. Maybe next weekend...
