Disney has basically made the offer to 600 Parks & Resorts Executive to either except the buy-out or be laid off. All 600 (313 in orlando) are to be manager or above. Looks like Disney is hurting pretty bad. I guess that is why they have NOTHING and I mean NOTHING in the works. By 2010 Universal is going to jack slap the mouse.

Damnit. Now it's going to be even harder to get a job.

Tell me about it. I looked into job openings at Disney right after getting back from my trip in January. I'll have to wait until the economy turns around I guess.

I just meant in general around this town. I mean it's bad when retail and food industries are trying not to hire.

OK, things at Disney just got a LOT worse. I know I am a lot more into the Disney Corporate culture than most around here but the changes that hit the news today is not good.

Dan Cockrell has been announced to become the head of EPCOT. Not a good thing. He treats attraction like they have the plague, and thinks merchendising is the key to success.

And Erin Wallace is moving to Sr. VP of Parks and Resorts. She is the queen of homogenized, non attraction/ land/ park specific merchendise. The nebulous Disney Parks logo is going to be on everything. She also loves defered maintenece so look for the attractions to just die on the vine.

It appears that they got rid of anyone who cares about anything but the bottomline.
