Vote for Peaches
By Peaches Magee

Well here we are folks, the end of the line. This is my last shot at convincing all you fantastic theme park lovers to vote for me for staff on this amazing site. I know I have been paired with some stiff competition and going head to head with someone that is actually a cast member in the parks is pretty intimidating. Yet I still feel, I can step up to the plate and take this on full force.

And now a little bit about the girl behind the screen name and those quirky remarks. I have been a theme park fan as far back as I can track my memories. Having always lived in South Florida, trips to Disney with the family occurred at least twice a year. I recall going in my early years and always feeling the magic of the parks consume me to the point of inspiration. From this very early age, I swore I would one day actually be a part of this magic, and I am still on that very journey. I would like to bring some of that creativity here to Orlando United. It could be in posting some of my artwork for critique, helping out with some graphic work or penning articles that showcase my sarcastic thoughts.

Another little tidbit, I am in the ‘Mickey Moms’ club. It is an online community put together by Disney in which moms join up to discuss information and tips with other moms. It pretty much put an emphasis on sharing ideas about making other families’ trips to the Disney parks as magical as possible. Being a minority on here as a mom, I feel it is still important to address these concerns and such on a forum like this. There is a decent amount of parents here at OU that travel to the parks frequently, and I am proud to be a part of that small but distinguished group here. Everyone here can pretty much agree that theme parks were originally created as places where kids and parents alike could enjoy themselves. Family has a very strong tie-in to this realm of ours and I would like to be a kind of ambassador to that.

Now I won’t stay in the touchy feely mode for long, because how boring would that be? There is a side of Peaches not many people get to see, even herself. It has been buried in her youth far too long and will very soon be released amongst the masses. I am talking about the little monster in her gut dubbed, ‘Thrill Seeker’. The first coaster I ever recollect riding was ‘Big Thunder Mountain’. Small potatoes, you say? Yes, I know, but it always stirs up an uncontrollable case of the giggles and a huge smile on my face every time I experience it. The first BIG coaster I recall was when I was 13 on my 8th grade trip to Busch Gardens Tampa. It was the almighty Kumba. Ok, so it is ancient now, but back then it was pretty revolutionary as a coaster. Once Islands of Adventure opened, my friends and I were there the first few weeks of its debut. We braved the LONG lines in the Florida heat and experienced every ride to much delight. I have not been able to go as religiously as I would have liked in the past few years, but hoping for that to change soon.

I began my theme park forum life over on wdwmagic.com, but since joining up on Orlando United, I have not been back to that other site since. I know a lot of you are on many forums and it is fun to be a part of great online communities, but I feel pretty much at home on here. It is a great discussion board with amazing members that all share a love for one thing at least, theme parks. The website is just getting better and better as well. I foresee great things for this site and I would truly like to play a role in making that happen. My online time, which is ample at the moment, will be devoted to this site as much as possible. I really enjoy getting to know all of you more and more. Truly I hope we can all build something really remarkable and big here.

I don’t have a set plan for what I would be doing if elected an OU Staff Member. All I know is that I will remain very active on this site and contribute all that I can to keep discussions interesting. I am a good online researcher, so I try and dig around daily and search for random things that apply here to post for some enjoyment. What I would also really like to do is to help organize some OU field trips to the parks and surrounding areas. There is much fun to be had when all of us get together I am sure. Oh and I am an avid podcast listener, so I hope to perhaps contribute to some chuckles up on O.U.R.

Something that is super apparent is that Orlando United needs some serious estrogen in its staff. No, I don’t mean it needs to be all pretty, pink and have ruffles. I just think it just needs a bit of a dame’s touch. Anyone that knows me in life, which is only Sal really, knows that while I may appear the average chick, I very much have the mind of a dude. I always keep an open mind with other peoples’ opinions and beliefs. I respect everyone’s right to express their thoughts on OU, as long as they do not intentionally attempt to hurt anyone with their words.

So this concludes my little love fest of self. I really hope you guys and gals vote for me in this nifty Staff Search contest. I am real, I don’t B.S., I despise drama and my love for theme parks is undying. Ok, I am all finished with the schmoozin’ folks.

Now… go vote!
