#3 - If money
wasn't a factor, what would be your Dream Job in an Orlando Theme
park?
When you went
to your first theme park in Orlando, you were probably asking your
mom if you could live there because of the magic and fun you had.
Trust me, I’ve tried, my mom still says no. It seems the only
way you could always be there and always live in the moment, is if
you worked for one of the resorts. But what kind of job would you
want?
If I could have
a job, I would love to be the official tour guide for Universal Orlando.
Walking down those streets with 20 tourists or Floridians listening
to my every word. I’m a talker and very outgoing (wow this sounds
like I’m on an interview) and love to give people hidden information.
Knowing me, my tour would probably be 2 hours, instead of the one
hour. You know what too, my tour would be free. You shouldn’t
have to pay extra money to get informed.
I love taking
tours of places, (maybe that’s why I’m also a tour guide
at my job) and to describe them dates and extra things they didn’t
know, the smile they get is incredible. I would take a tour of both
parks, first with Universal Orlando and show them the new rides and
the “used to be here” parts. And then we’ll walk
over to Islands of Adventure. They might be disappointed with all
the construction going on, and the mess it leaves. However you can
just simply say you’re really getting the scoop, cause you’re
seeing how the park builds a ride and the surrounding area in only
months.
If I couldn’t
be a tour guide, I would apply for the operations manger position.
I always feel like that title of job is the real scoop of the park.
Basically you are in charge of the daily maintenance and operation
of the whole park. You basically get to be a big gossip and know what
is exactly going on in the park.
An operations
manager knows what technical problems are wrong with the ride and
how long it will be down. I would be the first to know the exact date
of when the Simpsons ride will open and which celebrities will be
there for the opening. That’s probably cause I’m calling
there people trying to get to attend. I would also be knowing if we
should keep trying to fix a ride that doesn’t work (let’s
say King Kong for example). I would try to fight the demise of the
attraction, but realize in the end, sometimes things can’t be
fixed. But then I would have to break it to the staff that it will
close soon and be replaced by a better and more quality filled attraction.
I would love to
work for one of the resorts, my choice would be Universal Orlando.
Any job would be perfect for me, whether it be a tour guide, or an
operations manager. Heck, I would even take a parking attendant, at
least I could be there every day, instead of once in a few years.
Then, I could be in my heaven every day, or whatever days my schedule
gives me.
