Casa de BriMan
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Welcome all to the late edition of the Casa de BriMan. Everyone thank Comcast. I tell you, its kind of scary to think that Comcast was trying to buy the Disney Company almost 4 years ago. Imagine the quality of the parks if they can’t even get cable/internet right.
So “The Simpsons Ride” is close to opening with rumors of previews for the end of March for Annual Pass holders. I really am psyched about this ride as I grew up on the show. I remember finishing my homework as fast as I could just so I could be able to see “The Simpsons” and “Married…with Children”. A lot rides on this attraction for Universal. This is “Step 1” of Mission: Compete with Disney. The reaction to this ride will either add more hype or question their next step, “The Wizard World of Harry Potter” (I’m not counting Project Rumble as a step yet until its official).
So while Universal is busy with all this, what is the mouse doing across the way? Well, “Block Party Bash” is all set to premiere this week, rehabs are on the way for some beloved attractions, and the biggie, “Toy Story Mania”.
Um Hello, Disney? This is sense calling, do you honestly think this is going to stack up to the “boy who lived”?
While they are all worthy additions, this is not going to pull people’s interest away from Mr. Potter. The boy is huge right now (that doesn’t sound right). Riding off the release of the last book, and with 2 movies on the way within the next 2 years, this property will still be fresh in consumer’s minds. Unfortunately, Disney’s big property has come and gone (everyone say bye to Cap’n Jack). So how should the mouse respond? Well I’m glad you asked.
Wouldn’t everyone like to see Jack Skellington….”the Pumpking King”….. finally make his way to an attraction. Or how about Space Mountain getting the rehab it deserves, and yes I’m talking about a rehab like Space Mountain Paris. You know, the one that destroys all others. Star Tours update? Indy ride? Heck, even Sledge’s “House of Mouse” ride. These are properties that Disney should be considering. Let’s face it, Pixar rides have worn out their welcome. Don’t get me wrong, I love the movies. But it seems as if every year another Pixar ride is added. Don’t believe me?
2004 – Turtle Talk with Crush
2006 – The Seas with Nemo, Finding Nemo - The Musical
2007 - Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor
2008 – Block Party Bash, Toy Story Mania
That’s 2 Nemo rides in one year. Enough with the Pixar, expand on your hot properties Disney. Now is Harry Potter going to make the Universal Orlando Resort the #1 destination in Orlando? Of course not, it’s freaking Disney. But that doesn’t mean Disney wont see a big dent if they don’t offer up some big time attractions because in all reality, something wicked is coming towards the mouse's way.
That wraps up this weeks edition of
the Casa. Make sure you check back next week as I return from yet another
trip to Orlando, and have some news regarding O.U.R. The Orlando United
Radio Podcast. Until then…..Bon Voyarge.
